Your home or commercial facility often contains your most valuable possessions. SERVPRO of Perry Hall/White Marsh understands the trauma that follows a loss. When fire damage takes control of your business, we help take it back.

Fire is a naturally destructive force, but its damage takes all kinds of forms. The most obvious is when things are burnt down like furniture (and even rooms or whole houses), yet the damage is not always so visible.

In addition, soot can get into furniture, clothes, other possessions and even carpeting and walls. It requires a specialized process to fully remove any soot. SERVPRO of Perry Hall/White Marsh is fully capable of deep cleaning contaminated items with our special chemicals and equipment. And if there’s damage we can’t fix ourselves? We know the right people to call to help us take care of it.

“We were referred to SERVPRO by a neighbor the day the fire occurred. We called and they took over and arranged everything from contacting someone to board up the house to arranging every aspect of the damage. Very thorough, had our best interest and gave helpful information on how to work with the insurance company. Also extremely patient with my son, who lost the most.  I can't say enough kind words. They were so professional and helpful.” –George McDain

We here at SERVPRO of Perry Hall/White Marsh do our best to follow our mission to make it “Like it never even happened.”

2/10/2022 (Permalink)

The key to saving money on your water damaged multi-unit commercial complex in Perry Hall, MD, is to act fast.

A fast response to any water damage is very important, because not only does it help put your tenant at ease and reduces the severity of the water damage, but it also increases the chance for preserving irreplaceable valuables and minimizes the threat of bacterial and mold growth in your apartment or commercial complex. Water damage can quickly become dangerous as well as destroy items and structures in your complex, costing you possibly hundreds to thousands of dollars.

The Benefits of Acting Fast:

  • Lowers the cost of drying

  • Less items to replace
  • Less damage

Tips on Water Damaged Assisted Living Facility Managers in Perry Hall Maryland.

4/5/2021 (Permalink)

When your Perry Hall Maryland Assisted Living Facility suffers from a water damage, it's critical to know the difference between different levels of contaminated water. There are 3 classes of water, Clean, Gray and Black.

Clean water: Clean water is water from a broken pipe, water from a hot water heater, or sink. The time frame for a clean water water damage is limited as if it sits for longer than 24 hours it is then considered gray water.

Here is a list of precautions to take to protect your tenants and their personal belongings from a clean source water damage until help arrives.

    • Shut off the water source if possible or contact a qualified professional to do so.
    • Turn off the circuit breakers for wet areas of the building if access to the power distribution panel is safe from potential electric shock
    • Remove as much excess water as possible by mopping and blotting
    • remove and prop up wet upholstery cushions to allow a more even drying.
    • Move any paintings, art objects, computers, documents and other valuable items that may be sensitive to moisture to a safe place
    • Do not leave books, newspapers, magazines or other colored items on wet carpet as they may cause staining
    • Do not use your household vacuum cleaner to remove water as there is potential for electrical shock or causing damage to the vacuum cleaner
    • Do not turn on ceiling fixtures if the ceiling is wet; do not enter rooms where ceilings are sagging from retained water.

Gray water: Water that is slightly contaminated, such as water from a clean water source that leaked through a ceiling, or clean water that was left untreated. Gray water has bacteria and other contaminates beginning to grow.

Here is a list of precautions to take to protect your tenants and their personal belongings from a Gray water damage until help arrives.

Wear PPE, and Follow the list of instructions for clean water damage source.

Make sure your local SERVPRO Water Damage Restoration specialist to treat areas effected with contaminated water.

SERVPRO specialists will spray for mold prevention and address water between walls, under cabinets, under flooring, as well as water damaged belongings - electronics, rugs, textiles, memorabilia and decor

Black water:  is water that is highly contaminated, filled with fungi, bacteria, chemicals, viruses and more. Black water is typically caused by sewage damage, flooding, or any type of natural disaster.

Black water should never be handled by the homeowner and should always be handled by a trained certified professional.

Do not touch anything, keep your residents away from the effected area and call your local SERVPRO immediately.

Rosedale Property managers: This is what you do before help arrives to your clean-water water damage

7/18/2018 (Permalink)

When your Rosedale Maryland property suffers from a water damage, its critical to know the difference between different levels of contaminated water.

When you have a water damage, don't leave your property to chance. Call SERVPRO of Perry Hall White Marsh. We are certified in Water damage, biohazard clean up and mold remediations. We also accept all insurance companies and are located in Rosedale, right on yellowbrick road.Call 410-529-1664 for more details.

Important Tips on Disaster Safety from the International Code Council for Commercial and Property Managers

5/15/2017 (Permalink)

May is National Building Safety Month. Building Safety Month is an opportunity to education insurance and commercial property professionals as well as the general public on “what it takes to create safe, resilient, affordable and energy efficient homes and buildings,” according to the ICC website. The theme for  this week is managing natural disasters!

Here are some life and property saving tips on Disaster Safety and Mitigation from the ICC!

  • If you live in a high wind or hurricane prone area and do not have tested and code approved shutters for protection from windborne debris, consider temporarily protecting your doors and windows by mounting with exterior grade 7/16" minimum thickness plywood and fastening it into place. Go to http://flash.org/peril_inside.php?id=108 to learn how.
  • Consider buidling or retrofitting to create a tornado safe room in your business. Follow ICC/NSSA 500 standard for detailed construction information and how to achieve the highest level of protection for your business or tenants.
  • In Wildfire prone areas, remove fine (dead grass, leaves, etc.) within 30 feet of a building to create a survivable space in case of a wildfire. Be sure to remove dry leaf and pine litters from roofs, rain gutters, decks and walkways.
  • Flooded roads could have significant damage hidden by flood waters. Never drive through floodwaters or on flooded roads. Do not attempt to cross a flowing stream. Remember it only takes 6 inches of water to sweep you off your feet and 2 feet to move an SUV sized vehicle.

How to Recognize National Building Safety Month with your Rosedale MD business

Building safety month is a 37 year initiative of the International Code Council (ICC). Building Safety Month is an opportunity to education insurance and commercial property professionals as well as the general public on “what it takes to create safe, resilient, affordable and energy efficient homes and buildings,” according to the ICC website.

The theme for 2017 is Code Officials – partnered in community safety and economic growth. The theme highlights managing disasters – especially natural disasters in week 3 of this year’s campaign!

Some topics and tips shared during National Building Safety month include Disaster Safety and Mitigation, as well as Fire Safety and Awareness.

Celebrate National Building Safety Month by practicing your fire escape route for your business location. Learning how to use fire extinguishers and going over safe places to go in the event of a tornado or earthquake.

Another way to recognize this month of Safety awareness  is by scheduling to have an emergency ready profile made of your Rosedale/Rossville Business! Ellicott City Disaster: How to Protect your Business

From an Unexpected Weather Event

On July 30th, Ellicott City experienced a catastrophic flash flood when 8 inches of rain fell in 3 hours. The two water ways, which are usually streams, rose to 8 feet each as they converged under the bridge. This resulted in 125 water rescues, and a raging river of floating cars bashing in through business windows and two people died. Scores of businesses were destroyed and for the past 2 months, fundraisers have been popping up all over the state to help alleviate the businesses so they can reopen.

What would you do if your business experienced a disaster such as this? How would you even begin?

Business Emergency checklist for disaster recovery:

Keep all files handy, have a copy on the cloud and a hardcopy in a fireproof safe

Designate a person in the office to maintain safety

Have an escape plan

Have important numbers on file

Follow weather media, as well as phone flash flood warnings. Take them seriously.

Prepare a kit

Have an Emergency fund ready

How can you operate without electricity, or operational store front – mobilize business if possible

Self Check: Could your business handle a disaster if you were out of town?

Do you have flood, earthquake or any other natural disaster coverage? (did you know it takes 30 days for flood insurance to take effect, most insurance companies do not include Flood, or even sewage coverage and should always be asked for).

Don’t have enough time to do this all yourself? SERVPRO of Perry Hall White Marsh is sponsor of the American Red Cross Ready Rating Program, and we offer Emergency Ready Plans for free. Just give us a call and we will set one up for you.
